Meet the Team: Max Meyer

December 5, 2024

Where are you from? Tell us more about yourself.

I grew up in Boulder and I have lived in Colorado my whole life. Fun fact: my mom’s side of the family has lived in Colorado for seven generations! In my free time, I like to play guitar, ride my bike, go camping, and sometimes go birdwatching. I recently completed my Bachelor’s degree at the University of Denver where I studied Environmental Science, with minors in Spanish and Sustainability. I am excited to be working at Drive Clean Colorado where I am enjoying working for a nonprofit for the first time!

What is one project or initiative you’re excited to be working on?

I am excited to work on some of our 2024 recap projects because I am looking forward to compiling statistics and stories that show our impact over the course of this year.

What drives your passion for the work that you do at DCC?

This new position aligns with my passions for environmental science, sustainability, and conservation. As a Community Engagement Intern, I think my role is important for spreading educational information, promoting our events, and making connections with others who support our mission for clean transportation.

What sparked your interest to work in the clean transportation space?

When I was an undergraduate at the University of Denver, I worked for their Center for Sustainability as a bike mechanic. DU had a community bike shop where students and staff members could get their bikes repaired for free and buy discounted bike parts if they needed them. I worked in the bike shop for three years and was the bike shop manager for one of them. I taught students to do their own bike repairs, and we gave away items that made biking more accessible. That goal sparked my interest in promoting clean transportation.
