On your website you have a lot of different vehicle application projects, such as electric trolleys and mobile classrooms. What has been your favorite project to work on and why?
Although picking a favorite project feels a bit like choosing a favorite child, so I don’t advise doing that, the Town of Estes Park, CO electric trolley deployment ranks high in terms of both fun and forward thinking projects. This is a great example of out of the box thinking by the Town to utilize sustainable technology that provides clean air in the community, and delivers improved passenger and driver experience. Once you experience the quiet, exhaust-free ride, it’s hard to go back to diesel!
Of course, the applications of your vehicles are eye-catching, but what is underneath your products that makes them so interesting?
Our Ford eQVM approved EPIC product line is available for many body configurations including step vans, box trucks, work trucks, shuttle buses, school buses, trolleys, and specialty vehicles like the electric trolley. Built on popular Ford platforms such as the F-59, E-450 and F-53, it enables customers to put their dreams of a reliable and high performance electric medium duty vehicle into reality. The final stage vehicle build is performed by industry-leading bus and truck partners, with the same bodies that fleets come to rely on, providing an easy transition to electric. Motiv electrifies the chassis with a robust architecture and propriety software. We’re also able to pass-on the full OEM component warranties (batteries, motors, etc.) that make up the lion’s share of the purchase price. This gives fleets peace of mind, and, along with our 99% uptime and the largest network of field technicians, provides a guarantee that they are fully supported throughout the entire product lifetime to ensure post-deployment success.
Are there any fun Colorado projects that you can tell us about?
The recently unveiled Magic Bus Mobile Preschool is a combination of fun, sustainability, and education equity. The Vail Valley Foundation’s Magic Bus is based on Winnebago’ J33SE zero-emission commercial vehicle, utilizing Motiv Power Systems’ all-electric EPIC Ford F-53 chassis. This world-first all-electric mobile preschool provides classes free of charge to underserved communities in Vail. Electrifying school buses and delivering brand new products like mobile classrooms are really important for our children’s health and well-being. These children will be our future engineers, and these buses, this technology, will have a lasting and positive impact on their lives.
What is the most important thing the DMCC stakeholders should know about Motiv?
Freeing fleets of fossil fuels is at the core of Motiv’s mission. We are driving toward this mission by providing high-touch (but contactless!) customer support, building on OEM-approved platforms, and using commercially proven batteries – all of which are important for our fleet customers along with great reliability. We’re the only EV provider showing real-world reliability data for deployments, and we deliver reliability in the 98-99% uptime range, across a variety of vehicle applications. That’s the kind of reliability fleets can count on when making the switch from gasoline and diesel.
