PROJECT: Medium and Heavy Duty EV Data Collection
We are partnering with CALSTART to address the nationally anticipated growth of electrified transportation, specifically the electrification of medium and heavy duty electric vehicles — school buses, transit buses, trucks and off-road equipment — through their Medium and Heavy Duty EV Data Collection project. The CALSTART data collection project team is collecting real-world data from a diverse set of plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) across different applications, geographies, terrains and climate conditions. The anonymous data is verified, cleaned and uploaded to a database where it can be used by outside entities and the public to analyze and understand the performance of the vehicles.
IF YOU OPERATE A FLEET OF BATTERY ELECTRIC TRANSIT BUSES, SCHOOL BUSES, TRUCKS, OFF ROAD EQUIPMENT OR OTHER MEDUIUM AND HEAVY DUTY CLEAN MOBILITY SOLUTIONS, CONSIDER BEING A PROJECT DATA PROVIDER.
PURPOSE
The U.S. transportation system is moving toward electrification, with PEV adoption on the rise for medium and heavy duty (MD and HD) vehicles. This increased interest in electrification has created a need for up-to-date national data on PEV technology. The MD and HD Data Collection project’s datasets and analyses can be used to improve the understanding of MD and HD PEV use and performance, specifically energy consumption and driving patterns as well as vehicle and infrastructure performance. This knowledge informs decision making for multiple stakeholders: manufacturers, fleets, technology firms, fuel providers and researchers, and builds confidence in MD and HD PEV technology. The documents below provide more details about the project, along with information when considering participation as a data provider.
