Jake shares his personal experience transitioning to an Electric Vehicle (EV).

When I first transitioned to an electric vehicle, I quickly realized how important it was to understand Colorado’s charging landscape. As someone without access to charging at home, knowing where and how I could reliably charge became a top priority to having a positive EV experience.

In my day-to-day, I spend a lot of my time talking about EVs and charging, so I was already familiar with the tools and resources available. The number one question I get from my friends and family is, “but where do you charge,” which got me thinking. Community members just beginning their EV journey, might not know how to navigate charging for the first time.

Electric Vehicles (EVs) offer a cost-effective, reliable, and environmentally friendly way to get around, but EV charging can be confusing. Drive Clean Colorado (DCC), Clean Energy Economy for the Region (CLEER), and Four Corners Office for Resource Efficiency (4CORE) put together a public resource to help you understand the ins and outs of EV charging, answering your most pressing questions.

The Guide to EV Charging in Coloradooffers testimonials from EV drivers in Colorado to help you, as a community, get a real feel for EV ownership. In this guidebook, you will learn about EV charging basics, associated costs, and places to charge.

Whether you plan to charge at home, work, or publicly, the Guide to EV Charging is specifically designed to guide you through this process in the Colorado landscape. Colorado has a lot to offer, and charging is widely accessible across the state. Whether you’re headed to the ski slopes, relaxing at a hot spring, attending a sporting event, or traveling along our interstate corridors, you can charge just about anywhere.

With 26 scenic byways in Colorado, ChargeWest was developed as an EV corridor collaborative across eight states in the Intermountain West region, committed to improving Electric Corridors throughout rural gateway communities, state and national parks, and scenic byways. Although, the Intermountain West region has improvements to be made, EV charging is still accessible, especially within the State. Colorado’s 26 scenic byways span from Durango to Sterling, and over half of them offer access to EV charging.
