As we wrap up 2024, it’s a great time to reflect on the remarkable strides we’ve made at Drive Clean Colorado (DCC) and the invaluable role our members have played in advancing the adoption of clean transportation across the state. From building a robust coalition to expanding infrastructure and fostering community engagement, this year has been filled with milestones that are helping pave the way for a more sustainable, electrified future.
We are deeply grateful for the dedication and support of our members. Your contributions have made these achievements possible, and together, we’ve made significant progress in our mission to create a cleaner, greener Colorado.
Coalition Building: Growing Stronger Together
One of the highlights of 2024 was the growth of our coalition. We welcomed 22 new members, strengthening our collective impact and accelerating the equitable adoption of clean transportation across the state. With 77 total members by the end of the year, we are proud to see our community of stakeholders—businesses, local governments, nonprofits, and individuals—expand and unite toward a common goal.
This year, we also kicked off our Coalition Conversation series. These virtual events brought together numerous DCC members, providing a platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and inspiration. The energy and enthusiasm at these gatherings were a testament to the commitment of our stakeholders to drive positive change in Colorado.
Infrastructure: Expanding Charging Access Across the State
Building a robust EV charging infrastructure is key to the widespread adoption of electric vehicles, and 2024 saw significant progress in this area. Through our Watts@Work program, we engaged with 143 workplaces, helping them take the next step in supporting EV adoption. We’re thrilled to report that 55 businesses have pledged to install workplace charging, and we’ve supported the installation of 27 new chargers. Additionally, we hosted 18 Watts@Work events, bringing together employers, employees, and stakeholders to learn about workplace charging solutions.
Our work with Charge Ahead Colorado (CAC) was equally impactful. With the support of our ReCharge Coaches, we assisted 85 applicants in applying for CAC grants, and we’re excited to see 16 of them receive funding (with more awards still to be announced from the October 2023 round). Our coaching efforts spanned 38 counties, helping communities statewide access the resources they need to electrify their transportation systems.
Fleets: Supporting Colorado’s Clean Fleets
Fleets are a crucial part of Colorado’s clean transportation future, and in 2024, we continued to lead the way in helping businesses and government entities electrify their fleets. Through the Drive Electric USA initiative, we celebrated 10 Fleet Success Stories, showcasing organizations that are making the transition to electric vehicles. We also saw significant growth in our eFleet Working Group, which now includes 67 members, representing a diverse range of industries and sectors.
This year, we held our first in-person eFleet Working Group meeting in Boulder, hosted by the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), where members shared insights, challenges, and strategies for fleet electrification. We also launched a first-responder working group series, supporting critical sectors in their transition to electric vehicles. From Broomfield to Pagosa Springs, we’ve been actively involved in supporting fleet electrification plans across the state and have hosted 4 EV technician training events to ensure a skilled workforce is ready to support this growing sector.
Community Engagement: Educating and Inspiring Action
In 2024, DCC was able to connect with over 8,161 people through 91 events held across the state. Our outreach efforts included 45 educational and informational events, where we helped Coloradans learn more about the benefits of electric vehicles and how to make the switch. We also hosted 28 ride-and-drive experiences, giving attendees the chance to get behind the wheel of an EV and experience driving electric firsthand.
One of the highlights of our community engagement efforts was the Charge Ahead Colorado workshops, where we helped individuals and businesses navigate the process of applying for grants to support their EV adoption. These workshops were an invaluable resource for the community, and we look forward to continuing to offer these opportunities in the future.
Looking Ahead
As we enter 2025, we’re excited for what lies ahead. The momentum we’ve built in 2024 will propel us throughout the new year, and we’re more committed than ever to advancing the equitable adoption of clean transportation across Colorado. From expanding charging infrastructure to helping fleets electrify and engaging communities in clean mobility options, we’re ready to tackle the challenges of the coming year with the same passion and determination that has defined our work in 2024.
Thank you to all of our members, partners, and supporters who have been part of this journey. Together, we are making a lasting impact on Colorado’s clean transportation future.
