On June 3, Drive Clean Colorado teamed up with Colorado State University in Fort Collins to give attendees hands-on experience with a variety of electric vehicles, along with the opportunity to learn more about consumer incentives, educational resources, and clean transportation options.
The day got off to a slightly chaotic start as Colorado’s unpredictable weather attempted to blow away DCC’s tent setup. Fortunately, conditions improved quickly, and attendees soon began taking advantage of the opportunity to explore electric vehicles (EVs) firsthand. By the end of the event, around 20 ride-and-drive experiences had taken place.
Like other Drive Clean Colorado Ride and Drive events, attendees had the chance to get up close and personal with a range of electric vehicles while asking questions and learning more about EV ownership. According to DCC project Manager, Harrison Killo, “The CSU Fleet Ride and Drive specifically gave CSU staff and their departments a chance to explore how electrification could fit their operations, better understand available vehicle options, and ask questions about incentives, charging, and implementation.”
Attendees explored a wide range of EVs, from an all-electric police vehicle provided by GM to a Ford Transit with an aerial lift from Rush Truck Centers. They also connected with DCC staff to learn about charging options, incentives, fleet resources, and EV ownership
Throughout the afternoon, participants gathered around vehicles, compared notes on their driving experiences, and asked questions about charging, range, and how EVs could fit into their daily lives or fleet operations.

The event sparked many engaging conversations and even gave CSU Fort Collins police officers the opportunity to experience an EV ride of their own, offering a firsthand look at how electric vehicles could fit into their operations.
Drive Clean Colorado’s Ride and Drive events create opportunities for attendees to learn about clean transportation, ask questions, and experience a variety of electric vehicles firsthand.

As Harrison of DCC explains, Ride and Drive events “provide attendees with a valuable opportunity to get behind the wheel of a variety of electric vehicles, experience the technology firsthand, and speak with DCC staff about current funding opportunities and resources.”
Drive Clean Colorado would like to thank all the partners who helped make this event possible at CSU Fort Collins, as well as the vendors who provided vehicles and resources for attendees to explore. A special thank you to General Motors, Dellenbach Chevrolet, Repower, Tesla, Rush Truck Centers, and ROA Energy for their vehicles, displays, and support throughout the event.
