Drive Electric Colorado Program Available To Increase Electric Vehicle Adoption

The initiative assists consumers through the EV lifecycle

[DENVER, CO] – Drive Electric Colorado, along with its partners across the state, announces updated resources that provide individual consumers with information about electric vehicles in Colorado. This effort will help the state reach its goal to put 940,000 electric vehicles on the road in Colorado by 2030 and will help address the new U.S. goal of having 50% of all vehicles sold in 2030 be electric.

Drive Electric Colorado provides a number of free resources for the EV-curious:

• A user-friendly website with comprehensive information about EVs – from

  • Overall EV technology education

  • EV makes and models that are currently available to purchase in Colorado

  • How to charge your car at home and away

  • State and federal incentives available for EV purchases

• Individual EV coaching support from vetted experts

• Online and in-person EV classes

• Ride & Drive and EV Showcase events

• Interactive social media accounts with the latest information

Drive Electric Colorado also provides resources to communities and organizations wishing to encourage their constituents to drive an electric car (or ride an e-bike!) Resources include:

• Social media campaign collateral with topics like EV mythbusters, Charging 101, Colorado-specific FAQs, eBike Highlights, and more

• Dedicated landing pages for dealerships and utilities

• Profiles and stories about EV drivers in various communities

• Fleet engagement about electric vehicles of all sizes

• Charger gap assessments

Drive Electric Colorado challenges everyone to take the Be In Charge Pledge, pledging that their next vehicle (or bike!) will be electric.

This promotion coincides with a variety of headlines throughout the summer, including the Biden Administration’s Executive Order on Strengthening American Leadership in Clean Cars and Trucks, the UN’s 2021 IPCC report on climate change, and Coloradans’ overall concern about poor air quality in recent weeks – all coming together to increase interest from consumers to transition to electric transportation. For these curious buyers, Drive Electric Colorado provides honest answers from real people and current EV owners on how to make the transition as easy as possible.

The initiative is led by Drive Clean Colorado in partnership with regional Colorado organizations Clean Energy Economy for the Region (CLEER), Four Corners Office for Resource Efficiency (4CORE), Northern Colorado Clean Cities. There is a Project Advisory Committee in place with leaders from across the state that provides high-level guidance for the initiative.

Drive Electric Colorado is part of Drive Electric USA, a Department of Energy-funded project composed of Clean Cities coalitions across the U.S., electric vehicle groups, and other committed partners from fourteen states and counting. This project engages individuals, utilities, legislators, dealerships and others towards removing adoption barriers and accelerating plug-in electric vehicle use throughout the United States.

 “Our hope is that Drive Electric Colorado will be the go-to resource for Colorado consumers that are interested in EVs but not sure where to start,” said Julia Davila, Associate Project Manager for Drive Electric Colorado.  “Our individualized coaching program can guide buyers in their own unique situation; budget, charging capabilities, range needs and incentives that they qualify for.”

“Decarbonizing transportation is a key focus for our organization and partnering in Drive Electric Colorado is a way to drive electrification on the Western Slope by giving drivers a one-stop resource for all things EVs,” said Stefan Johnson, Transportation Program Manager at CLEER. “We can collectively make an impact across Colorado to preserve the environments we love by providing this information to all regions and communities across the state.”
