2020 ANNUAL REPORT

Earlier this year, Drive Clean Colorado (formerly Denver Metro Clean Cities) conducted our Annual Report. We surveyed our stakeholders to measure the amount of petroleum displaced through the use of alternative fuels and petroleum reduction strategies in the 2020 calendar year. Those results have been aggregated to form a local picture of the petroleum reduction market in the Denver Metro area.

A few highlights of the report to note:

  • In 2020 our stakeholders in the Denver area alone reduced 16.1 million gallons of gasoline by using alternative fuels and advanced technologies.
  • We saw a significant drop in EV use (red section of the bar graph) for much of 2020 as a direct result of the pandemic, as fewer people were driving. We expect to see that number rebound for 2021.
  • The corresponding GHG reductions totaled over 90,000 tons – the equivalent of not driving 226,187,808 miles in a gasoline passenger car.
  • For the second year in a row, idle reduction strategies have been a significant part of the reductions realized by our stakeholder fleets.

None of this information would be possible without the support of our stakeholders like you! We are incredibly thankful for your help in providing the data that made this annual report possible and for all you do to improve air quality in the region.

You can view the full report details here.

“This report is only possible with the input of all the Drive Clean Colorado stakeholders who took the time to provide these critical data,” said Steve Trowbridge, Project Manager for fleets and fuels for Drive Clean Colorado. “Their input gives us the information we need to measure the impact of our united efforts to improve the air quality across the Denver Metro area.”
