The Colorado Energy Office (CEO) and the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) have opened the application round for the Direct Current Fast-Charging (DCFC) Plazas Program, designed to expand access to high-speed EV charging across communities and highway corridors statewide.
A total of $17 million in funding is available through the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program and the Community Access Enterprise (CAE). Applications are open October 27 through December 5, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. Program application Guide can be found here.
Program Overview
The DCFC Plazas Program provides incentives for installing public fast-charging stations that meet high-performance and accessibility standards. Incentives are awarded per charging port, with a minimum of four ports required per site. Each port must deliver at least 150 kW of power output.
The total incentive amount depends on how many vehicles can be charged simultaneously at 150 kW and varies by location. Detailed incentive information is available in the DCFC Plazas Application Guide linked under “How to Apply” on the program website.
Enhanced incentives are also available for projects that include:

Match requirements vary by project and can cover up to 80% of total costs.
