Drive Clean Colorado Accessibility Policy
Purpose
Drive Clean Colorado (DCC) is committed to ensuring that our digital content and technology are accessible to all individuals, including those with disabilities. Our goal is to provide equitable access to our services and information in compliance with Colorado’s accessibility standards and guidelines.
Scope
This policy applies to all digital content, including websites, documents, and multimedia, created or maintained by Drive Clean Colorado.
Policy Statement
- Compliance with Accessibility Standards
- Drive Clean Colorado will comply with the Colorado Anti-discrimination Act (CADA) and HB21-1110, ensuring that no individual with a disability is excluded from participation in or denied the benefits of our services, programs, or activities.
- We will adhere to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 as our minimum standard for digital accessibility.
- Accessibility Planning and Implementation
- Maintain this accessibility plan to stay in alignment with the Colorado Office of Information Technology (OIT) standards.
- Ensure that all new and existing digital content meets or exceeds WCAG 2.1 standards.
- Integrate accessibility policy into onboarding and team meetings to ensure the team is informed with up-to-date requirements.
- Training and Awareness
- Provide regular updates to DCC accessibility policy and to DCC team on best practices and compliance requirements.
- Internally provide awareness about the importance of accessibility.
- Accessibility Audits and Assessments
- Conduct audits of content and resources to identify and address accessibility issues.
- Utilize both automated tools and manual testing to validate accessibility compliance.
- Technical Standards for Accessible Documents
- Ensure all PDFs and documents are accessible, following the guidelines provided by the Colorado OIT for creating accessible documents, including proper use of headings, alternative text for images, and logical reading order.
- Make forms, images, and links accessible by providing descriptive labels and alternative text where applicable.
- Continuous Improvement
- Establish a process for tracking and resolving accessibility issues.
- Regularly review and update accessibility policies and practices to stay current with evolving standards and technologies.
- Encourage feedback from users to improve our accessibility efforts continually.
- Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain records of accessibility efforts, including policy updates, audits, and additional efforts.
- Report on accessibility compliance to stakeholders as required.
Responsibilities
- The Communications Manager oversees the implementation of this policy and ensures compliance with accessibility standards.
- All staff members are expected to be familiar with our accessibility policy and content standards.
By implementing this policy, Drive Clean Colorado aims to provide an inclusive digital environment that is accessible to all users, in compliance with Colorado’s accessibility regulations and standards.
