How to Apply for the Charge Ahead Colorado Grant

Looking to support the growing demand for electric vehicles in your community? The Charge Ahead Colorado (CAC) Grant offers a fantastic opportunity to fund EV charging infrastructure for businesses, governments, and communities. With up to $250,000 available per applicant, this grant is open to organizations like non-profits, workplaces, and multifamily housing. The next application round runs from January 13 to February 14, 2025 — making now the perfect time to start planning your submission. To apply for the Charge Ahead Colorado Grant, follow these steps:

  1. Review the Charge Ahead Colorado page on the Colorado Energy Office’s website and read through the application guide: here.
  2. Identify your ReCharge Coach and if you are a qualifying entity, reach out for assistance.
  3. Work with your utility company to choose a location and type of charger to fit your facilities’ needs. DCC Regional Coordinators can facilitate introductions to utilities.
  4. Connect with DCC for assistance in planning a site assessment to ensure your location is properly set up for increased energy load and install of a charging station(s).
  5. Contact your city/county for information on permitting fees. You are advised to not purchase a permit before being granted the award. DCC can facilitate introductions to local permitting experts.
  6. Gather quotes from 2-3 charging vendors. Visit DCC’s Charging & Infrastructure Partners webpage for a list of vetted vendors to get you started.
  7. For workplaces or HOAs, work with DCC to complete an employee/resident survey to demonstrate demand for charging stations.
  8. Begin your application in a Word document.
