SUMMARY:Electrify the Speedway
DESCRIPTION:Join us on November 7th from 11 AM – 2 PM for our second Electrify the Speedway event at the Colorado National Speedway! This is a fun\, free community event to test your skills in an electric vehicle (EV) and win prizes!  \nDrive Clean Colorado is co-hosting this event with Adams County\, the City of Brighton\, the City of Northglenn\, the City of Westminster\, the City of Louisville\, and the Town of Erie.  \nThis event is free to all community members\, but to participate in the EV skills test\, Regenerative Braking Demonstration\, and Ride & Drive\, you must be 18 years old or older and have a valid driver’s license.  \nPlease register to attend on Eventbrite. Eventbrite will confirm your attendance\, then when you arrive you can sign up to participate in the Skills Test\, Regenerative Braking Demonstration\, and Ride & Drive. \nWhat to Expect:\nSpeedway Skills Test: \n\nCome get behind the wheel of an EV to test your driving skills. You will have the opportunity to take a vehicle on the track of the Colorado National Speedway and complete a pre-prescribed skills test along with a professional driver.\nThis is not a speed or racing event. A professional driver will be there to guide you through the course.\nDuring the skills test\, judges will provide you with a score at the end\, based on your driving skills. You will be placed on a leaderboard with the opportunity to win a YETI COOLER.\n\n  \n \nRegenerative Braking Demonstration: \n\nOn the drag strip\, you will have the chance to feel regenerative braking firsthand. Regenerative braking is a mechanism that puts electricity back into the car’s battery by reversing the motors when you stop accelerating.\nTo get a feel for this experience\, we will have you accelerate to 30 MPH on the drag strip\, then release the acceleration to see how regenerative braking works in real time. The point of this event is to learn and experience what regenerative braking feels like\, not how fast an EV can go. There is no competition involved in this challenge.\n\nEV Ride and Drive:  \n\nIf you’re curious about how an EV handles outside of the skills test\, we are also offering an EV ride and drive where you can take an EV around the block to see what it’s like on the open road\n\n  \n \nExpo: \n\nWhile you wait\, you can visit one of our booths to learn more about EV ownership\, charging\, utility engagement\, and available funding.\n\nYou can expect to chat with: \n\nDrive Clean Colorado\nMonarca Group\nXcel Energy\nPower Ahead Colorado\nColorado Energy Office (tentative)\nUnited Power\nADC Electric\nYou will also have the opportunity to speak with local EV owners about their ownership experiences in Colorado.\n\nFood: \n\nWhile you wait for your turn to drive\, you can sit back and watch other drivers complete the skills test\, while enjoying some food from the venue’s bar.\nThere will also be free coffee as supplies last.\n\nWhat to Bring: \n\nDriver’s License\nJacket (this is an outdoor event)\n\nFor any questions\, please reach out to jake@drivecleanco.org or harrison@drivecleanco.org.
